Welcome to Duna's Word! This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application. Please read this privacy policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this privacy policy, please do not access the application.
Information We Collect
1. Game Progress Data (Stored Locally)
We store the following data locally on your device using UserDefaults and local storage:
- Level Progress: Which levels you've completed, star ratings, and best scores
- Achievement Data: Which achievements you've unlocked
- Game Statistics: Total words found, coins earned, streaks, and hints used
- Power-Up Inventory: Your current coins and power-up counts
- Settings Preferences: Sound, haptics, and language preferences
This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to our servers.
2. Analytics
The App Store build of Duna's Word does not include a third-party analytics SDK (for example Firebase Analytics). In-app event names may be printed to the developer console in debug builds only. If we add analytics in a future version, we will update this policy and the App Store privacy questionnaire.
3. Advertising Data
We use Google Mobile Ads SDK to display advertisements. Google may collect:
- Advertising ID (IDFA on iOS)
- IP address (anonymized)
- Device information
- Ad interaction data

Information We DO NOT Collect
We want to be clear about what we don't collect:

We use the collected information for:

Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
Google Mobile Ads (AdMob)
- Purpose: Display advertisements in the app
- Data Collected: Advertising ID, device info, ad interactions
- Privacy Policy: Google Privacy Policy
- Opt-Out: You can limit ad tracking in iOS Settings → Privacy → Advertising → Limit Ad Tracking
Word definitions (optional, network)
When you tap a word you have found, the app may request definitions over HTTPS. Only the word text you chose is sent (no account exists in the app). Sources may include:
- Wiktionary (Wikimedia) — Wikimedia Privacy Policy; content under CC BY-SA where applicable.
- Free Dictionary API (dictionaryapi.dev) — for English senses when Wiktionary is insufficient.
- MyMemory Translation API — limited public use for machine translation of short definition snippets to Vietnamese; see their terms for commercial limits.
Built-in English word list (offline)
The app ships with a bundled English word list (open-source word list, Unlicense) used to validate bonus words on your device. That list is stored in the app bundle; it is not uploaded when you play.
Data Storage and Security
Your data security is important to us:
- Local Storage: Game progress is stored locally on your device using iOS secure storage (UserDefaults, FileManager)
- No Cloud Sync: We don't store your data on our servers
- Encryption: iOS automatically encrypts data on locked devices
- Data Retention: Local data persists until you delete the app
Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
Duna's Word is rated 4+ and is safe for children. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA):

- ✅ We do NOT have social features or chat
- ✅ We do NOT track location

Your Privacy Rights
You have the following rights regarding your data:
Access and Deletion
- View Your Data: Tap the Debug button (🔧) in the game to see all stored data
- Delete Your Data: Use the "Reset All Progress" button in Debug panel or delete the app
- Reset Progress: You can reset your game progress at any time from Settings
Ad Tracking Control
- iOS Settings: Settings → Privacy → Tracking → Allow Apps to Request to Track (toggle OFF)
- Limit Ad Tracking: Settings → Privacy → Advertising → Limit Ad Tracking (toggle ON)
GDPR Rights (for EU Users)
If you are in the European Union, you have rights under GDPR:
- Right to access your personal data
- Right to rectification of inaccurate data
- Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten")
- Right to data portability
- Right to object to processing

We are based in Vietnam. If you access the app from outside Vietnam, your data may be transferred to and processed in Vietnam or other countries where our service providers operate. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers.

Bottom Line: We take your privacy seriously. We only collect data needed to make the game work and improve it. We don't sell your data, and most of your information never leaves your device. You have full control over your data and can delete it anytime.
